Traditional Spurtle or Theevil

The spurtle or theevil is the ideal implement for making porridge or any other pot of food that requires constant stirring. I once read that there are two kinds of spurtles produced. One is highly ornate and is produced by woodturners who have never made a bowl of porridge in their lives and the other is a simple easily cleaned Kitchen tool.

I produce spurtles in either beech or sycamore. In the picture the sycamore is the paler spurtle.
